Clinical Significance
Stachybotrys chartarum/atra (RGm24) IgE - Stachybotrys chartarum/atra is a mold that has been implicated in a variety of illnesses associated with water-damaged buildings. Stachybotrys requires cellulose as a growth substrate and is usually found on building materials composed of cellulose (e.g. ceiling tiles and wallboards).
Individuals who respond to exposure to mold antigens by producing specific IgE may exhibit allergy symptoms when subsequently re-exposed to spores from mold.
