Hepatitis D Virus (HDV) Antibody (IgM)
Test Code
35664
86692
Clinical Significance
Hepatitis D Virus (HDV) Antibody (IgM) - Hepatitis D Virus (HDV) infection occurs only in association with Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection. A positive result for HDV IgM indicates either recent HDV infection or chronic HDV infection with IgM persistence.

Methodology
Immunoassay (IA)
This test was developed and its analytical performance characteristics have been determined by Quest Diagnostics. It has not been cleared or approved by FDA. This assay has been validated pursuant to the CLIA regulations and is used for clinical purposes.
Reference Range(s)
Negative
Interpretive Criteria
HDV infection occurs only in association with HBV infection. Detection of HDV IgM suggests either recent/acute infection or chronic infection with IgM persistence. HDV RNA PCR testing can also be considered as an aid in the diagnosis and staging of infection.
