Clinical Significance

Cell Count and Differential, Pleural Fluid - An excess accumulation of fluid within the pleura may occur in the presence of the following disease states: transudates, exudates, neoplastic disease, pulmonary emboli/infarction, collagen vascular disease, gastrointestinal disease, postmyocardial infarction, and trauma.
