Clinical Significance
Immunofixation (IFE), Urine - Immunofixation of urine is useful in evaluation of monoclonal free light chains and other monoclonal gammopathies seen in light chain disease, multiple myeloma, Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, amyloidosis, and other lymphoproliferative disorders. Increased polyclonal free light chains in urine may be seen in glomerular leak syndromes and in infection or inflammation.
