Post-Transplant, Cytomegalovirus DNA, Real-Time PCR, Plasma
Test Code
Clinical Significance
Post-Transplant, Cytomegalovirus DNA, Real-Time PCR, Plasma - In patients who are immunocompromised, CMV may cause disseminated, severe disease. CMV is also the most common cause of congenital viral infection in humans. Quantitative PCR methods may be useful in monitoring CMV replication in immunosuppressed patients. This is a quantitative molecular test, with a reportable range of 34.5-10,000,000 IU/mL (1.54--7.00 log IU/mL).
